The Death of Hiligaynon Terminologies in the Coastal Community in Northern Iloilo, Philippines

Abstract :
Terminologies are part and parcel of any language. Its extinction affects the linguistic system and mechanism and the cultural identity it bears. This phenomenological study aimed to identify the unused Hiligaynon terminologies and their causes of death in the coastal communities. Thirty participants participated in the interview and triangulated using observation and focus group discussion.
